Alison Paskal

Hello! Thank you for taking a look at my letter. My hope is that you will get a feel for the life I hope to share with your baby. I realize I don’t look just like the other families. You may wonder why I am so excited about adopting as a single parent. Then again, you may recognize that a dedicated mom, prepared to parent  along with a huge community of loving support is an amazing foundation in a child’s life. I appreciate your  courage in considering adoption. I will do my best to be a wonderful mom and I would be honored to have your
trust and friendship while raising this child.

give our children. One is roots; and the other, wings.”

About Me….

I grew up in Michigan, where my parents still live, and moved to the Bay Area over 16 years ago. I am very fortunate to be surrounded by friends, family, and an extended community that wholeheartedly support my  decision to become a mom. I am at an ideal point in my  life where I can provide a stable and stimulating upbringing. There are adventures that I cannot wait to share with a child’s tiny hand in mine; hiking among redwoods, walking along the beach (looking for a stranded hermit crab to take home), or watching the huge dragon dancing down the streets of San Francisco at the Chinese New Year Parade.

Pets are a source of joy in my life. A special relationship with animals is something I look forward to sharing with my child. I have had many pets over the years (hermit crabs, standard poodles, cockatiels, goldfish). I wonder
what new pets my child will introduce to me.

I work at U.C. Berkeley on an Early Childhood Math Research Project. Before that, I worked as an Early Childhood teacher. Children and learning are my passion and my vocation. My life is truly filled with children! The University has generous benefits for parents, including plenty of time for bonding with my baby, and a very flexible schedule when I do return to work. In addition there are tremendous educational opportunities for my child in the future.

I know that loving this baby will be the most important thing I do in my life. I will take the time to listen, instill a sense of self-worth and encourage him/her to reach for and attain their dreams. I truly look forward to the day I meet my sweet new baby.

Becoming A Mother…

I look forward to all of the incredible joys and challenges that motherhood brings. I am ready! I long to hold a baby in my arms and know that I am the one he or she looks to for comfort, security, and love.

The feeling of a tiny finger wrapped around mine, seeing the first smile, and being the last person my child sees as they drift off to sleep and the first smile they see every morning. Our life will be filled with love and learning. I look forward to sharing the goodness of my life today with my child. I appreciate motherhood as the opportunity of a lifetime! Raising a child will be the most rewarding and fulfilling challenge I will ever take on.
