| My Family… My family is very central to me and I am so grateful that I have such a devoted and loving family. As an only child I grew up with my parents and extended family that provided a strong sense of love, security, and acceptance for all people. Our lives stay connected through phone calls, emails, plane rides across the country, family get-togethers in California, and vacations to visit home often. I am a lesbian and I have a loving healthy relationship with a woman named Jules, with whom I share a deep affection. Jules is an amazing woman who brings dimension, interest, and joy to my life. She will love my child and is wholeheartedly supportive of my plan to adopt. Our relationship is still somewhat new and growing. Jules continues to be an important part of my life, but raising my own child is my life-long dream. ![]() Camping with Jules What my good friend Avoa says: “Alison has a great deal of patience, an essential quality for a parent. I have seen Alison sit half the morning with a child who was not ready for their mom to drop them off at school. Alison is as prepared as any potential parent can be, she has helped to raise not only my three kids, but many others.” ![]() Laughing with Avoa ![]() Grandpa and Grandma to be |
![]() Hanging out with my nephews, Evan and Sean “I am 11 years old, and I have known Aunt Alison for all of my life. Alison is nice and she cares very much about people, especially kids. When she comes to visit, she likes to take us to cool places like the Motown Museum. She takes us out to do things, not just sit around and watch TV. She taught us to play different board and card games, like the draydel game. My brother and I look forward to her coming for a visit, because she always tries to make time for us. Aunt Alison will be a great and fun mom, and she will love the baby with all of her heart.” My Home and Neighborhood…. I live in Emeryville, California. My home has an enclosed backyard with lots of space to play, a wonderful sunny garden and an ideal place for family and friends to gather for barbeques, and birthday parties. The neighborhood I live in is a diverse community- social-economically, culturally and racially. There are many families with children in the neighborhood , including families with adopted children. Shade trees line the streets, and many homes have beautiful gardens.Within walking distance are parks, restaurants, a library (with an excellent children’s section) and a movie theatre. My child will live in a community that values all children and families. Open Adoption… I embrace open adoption
as it provides answers to the questions that adopted
children often have. I hope for a comfortable ongoing
relationship with you, but I’ll always respect your wishes. I
will not pretend to understand the thoughts and feelings
that you might have as you make these big decisions. I
admire you for considering adoption. If you would like to
talk, I would like to know you, your wishes, hopes and dreams.
May this journey bring you peace, fulfillment, and
comfort.
I am excited about the possibility of adopting, and look forward to meeting you.
With warmest regards, ![]() |
